AVON LAKE, OH — The turf replacement at Avon Lake Memorial Stadium began this week. The stadium and track are closed during the project.

The project will cost the district $383,143, said Tom Barone, Avon Lake Schools business manager.

Crews will be replacing the turf over the next four weeks, school officials estimate. Hybrid fibers and CoolPlay infill will be laid down at the stadium. The turf should arrive on Friday. Crews will be removing the current turf on Tuesday and grating the field on Wednesday and Thursday.

"We can’t wait to see the finished product," the school district said in a statement.

The stadium will be closed to visitors until the project is complete. Barone said school officials hope to reopen the stadium after July 4th.
