$20 Million Gift Given To John Carroll University
The rare unrestricted gift was made by an anonymous donor.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH — An anonymous donor has given an unrestricted gift of $20 million to John Carroll University.
“On behalf of the John Carroll University community, I am humbled and appreciative of this selfless act of transformational generosity,” John Carroll President Michael Johnson said. “We will use this pledge to fuel our academic programs, enrich our campus and enhance the student experience as we continue to inspire the next generation of leaders."
Most donations to colleges are restricted, meaning the institution must use the money in a specific way (typically outlined by the donor). The fact this gift is unrestricted means John Carroll can use the money to address whichever needs it deems most urgent.
