World Record Broken: 32,300 Sandwiches Lined Up By Ohio School
Volunteers, students and teachers made an unbroken line of sandwiches, stretching 13,300 feet. Watch it all together (time-lapse video)!
BEACHWOOD, OH — It took more than 400 hundred people, 32,300 sandwiches, donations from four companies, and a lot of effort, but Beachwood High School is now the holder of the world record for the longest continuous line of sandwiches. The unbroken stretch of bread and meat clocked in at a staggering 13,300 feet. Eat your heart out Subway.
The previous record for the longest line of sandwiches was 13,184 feet. To eclipse that record, volunteers worked from early morning Sunday, past midnight. Ingredients and donations for the event came from SunButter, Welch's, Orlando Baking Company, and AVI FoodSystems. All of their contributions to the event were free, the school district said.
The shattered world record came as part of the inaugural Herd Against Hunger event on Sunday. All of the many sandwiches that were made during the program ended up being delivered to food banks, soup kitchens, and shelters throughout Northeast Ohio.

The event was the brainchild of Beachwood High junior Lena Leland. The school district congratulated the ambitious teenager on a job well done. School officials said, "Congratulations Lena Leland, BHS Junior, for seeing through her vision for this event all the way to the end!"
