Actors From The London Stage Come To John Carroll University

The troupe will visit for six-days and then perform "King Lear" on Feb. 14, 15, and 16.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH — Three special performances of William Shakespeare's "King Lear" will grace John Carroll University this week. That's because visiting acting troupe Actors From the London Stage will be organizing and participating in the shows.

“With five actors and a few basic props, the actors will bring "King Lear" to life before our eyes,” said Jean Feerick, associate professor of English. “Each actor will play one or two major roles and a series of minor roles, using key props to signal a shift in their persona. It is amazing how they use body language to transform their perceived identity.”

The three performances will be held in John Carroll's Kulas Auditorium Feb. 14-16 at 7 p.m. Each show is open to the community. Tickets are available at the door, $10 for adults and $5 for students.

During the week, Actors From the London Stage will also host classroom workshops on understanding Shakespearean verse, acting, principles of rhetoric, public speaking, and understanding the power of body language. The actors will participate in classes from a variety of majors, including English, communications, theology, and even taxes.
