Beachwood Dropping Mask Mandate On June 2

The municipal health orders will be removed the same day state health mandates are lifted.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Beachwood will remove its citywide mask and social-distancing mandates on June 2.

Beachwood City Council voted to lift the mandates on Thursday morning. Ohio's statewide mask and social distancing mandates will be removed on the same day.

While both municipal and state mandates will be lifted on June 2, city officials still recommend unvaccinated residents wear masks when in public and practice social distancing, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Beachwood City Hall and the Beachwood Community Center will remain closed to the public for the foreseeable future. City Council and other public meetings will be held via Zoom through at least June 2021.

The Aquatic Center will open Memorial Day weekend, with mask mandates and social distancing in place. Those mandates will fall away on June 2.

Unvaccinated residents participating in Beachwood summer camps on Beachwood Schools campuses will be required to wear masks during certain activities.

Beachwood businesses, apartments and office buildings can set their own mask and social distancing mandates, regardless of municipal or state recommendations.
