Beachwood Employees Raise Enough to Provide 17K Meals

The city's eighth year participating in the Great Cleveland Food Bank's Harvest for Hunger campaign was a success.

BEACHWOOD, OH - City of Beachwood employees got together and raised enough money to provide 17,500 meals for people in need.

The efforts were part of the city's eighth year participating in the Great Cleveland Food Bank’s Harvest for Hunger campaign, which fights hunger in 21 of Ohio's counties, Mayor Merle Gorden wrote on his city blog.

"Whether it was spare change, selling candy, $5 jeans on Friday, or a pizza party for the cause, employees generously came through to give back to the community," the mayor wrote. "City of Beachwood employees collected $4,835 during this year's Harvest for Hunger Campaign, a 21 [percent] increase over last year's collection."
