Beachwood Schools Plan Parade To Honor Graduating Seniors

The Class of 2020 will be parading through Beachwood on Thursday. The school system hopes residents will show their support to the seniors.

BEACHWOOD, OH — When the new coronavirus began its spread through Ohio, it wiped out many traditional rites of passage for students, like graduation and prom. To compensate for the loss of these time-honored traditions, the Beachwood Schools are planning a senior parade through the city.

The Class of 2020 will drive their cars through the city on Thursday evening. Residents are encouraged to drive to the end of their driveway (if they live along the parade route), to cheer on the seniors. Residents who don't live along the parade route can drive to their local school building or the Beachwood Place mall to honk their horns and flash their lights for the seniors.

"Staff, students, parents and community members are invited to 'honk' for our Seniors as they progress along the parade route. Staff, parents, and other community members parked on school grounds or at Beachwood Place (by Nordstrom) should not leave their cars. All spectators are asked to honk their horns, flash their lights, and wave from inside their cars," the school district said on their website.
