Blu the Restaurant to Reopen with New Chef + Menu on April 28

Brian Moses brings an esteemed + fresh culinary perspective to the Cleveland food scene

Blu, the nationally recognized seafood restaurant, will reopen on Wednesday, April 28 with a new executive chef and menu after having to temporarily close in November 2020 due to COVID-19.

After an exhaustive national search, the restaurant is thrilled to welcome executive chef Brain Moses to Blu, the Restaurant. Previously at Thomas Keller’s Bouchon in Napa, as well as Contigo, Olive & June, and Launderette in Austin, the Texas-born chef brings his extensive culinary experience to Blu. Moses will deliver his vast expertise and creative insight to the compelling and refined new menu that will focus on contemporary seafood.

In addition, Brian will develop and oversee the kitchen of a new concept in what was the shuttered Rossa Italia restaurant space, next to Blu. This yet-to-be named eatery will be revealed in the coming months.

During the pandemic, the restaurant took advantage of the closure by renovating and updating the space. Blu, the Restaurant will reopen with 100 socially distanced seats, an updated outdoor dining area that includes a fireplace, outdoor bar, and a dog-friendly patio.

Additionally, the Cleveland-based restaurant group is pleased to announce leadership changes with Sasha Friedlander as president, Peter D’Amato as vice president, and Janie Duke as sous chef.

Owner, Brad Friedlander, a long-time pillar of the Cleveland food scene, stated, ‘We are so grateful to our Northeast Ohio community for supporting our restaurants over the years and with this next phase, we want to bring our patrons an amazing culinary experience. We have all been dealing with extraordinary circumstances over the last year and patron and employee safety is our top priority.”
