Maltz Museum Offering Free Holiday Events
The museum will open its doors to the public for Hanukkah and Christmas Day celebrations.

BEACHWOOD, OH — The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage will host several free events throughout the holiday season. The museum will have a candle lighting Hanukkah celebration that will be open to all faiths, a Christmas day event and more.
The museum is located at 2929 Richmond Road in Beachwood.
On Dec. 13, the 2nd Night of Hanukkah "Family Candle Lighting" celebration will be held. That event is family-friendly and will include sing-alongs with Cantor Kathy Sebo and Violinist Lisa Martel from the Temple-Fifereth Israel.

Attendees can also play the dreidel game, learn the story of Hanukkah and indulge their sweet tooth during a cookie reception. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Then, on Christmas Day, the Maltz Museum will host the "Give What You Can, Pay What You Can" event. Attendees can enjoy guided tours of the museum from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., a marathon of the original Fleischer Brothers Superman Cartoons, enjoy the latest museum exhibit "Beyond Chicken Soup: Jews & Medicine in America" and see the rest of the treasures in the museum.

Attendees will be encouraged to bring a donation of either canned good, for the Semach Sedek R.I.A.S. Kosher Food Bank & Pantry and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, or a cash donation.
Then, on Jan. 15, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Maltz Museum will host its "Hear Our Voices: Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration" event. The Evelyn Wright Quartet will hold a live performance at 1 p.m. and there will be a panel discussion on civil rights, gender and race at 3 p.m.
Panelists at the discussion will include Margaret Mitchell (YWCA), Peggy Zone-Fisher (Diversity Center), Jazmin Long (Global Cleveland) and Kayla Griffin (NAACP).
That event is also free and open to the public.
