The Beachwood Schools will hold a community memorial gathering for Art Gugick, a math teacher killed in a car crash over the weekend.
BEACHWOOD, OH — The Beachwood Schools will hold a memorial gathering in honor of Art Gugick, the high school math teacher that was killed in a car crash over the weekend. The gathering is open to the entire community and will be held Wednesday morning.
Gugick's death sent shockwaves through suburban Beachwood. Gugick, a beloved and longtime math teacher, was travelling in an Uber on Saturday night. Police believe a car ran a red light and hit the Uber, killing Gugick and another passenger.
"It has been a tough day for students and staff at Beachwood High School. They are grieving the loss of Arthur Gugick, their beloved teacher and colleague. Counseling supports have been in place all day. Memorial banners are posted with messages written by the kids and staff. Counseling supports will remain in place for the next several days and continue as needed," Beachwood's Superintendent Bob Hardis said on social media.
