New Police Chief Announced For Beachwood

BEACHWOOD, OH — Kelly Stillman will be the next police chief in Beachwood.

Stillman is a 35-year veteran of the Rocky River police department, where he has been chief since 2011. He was also president of the Cuyahoga County Chief's Association in 2018.

“We were fortunate to attract many qualified candidates to our search for a police chief, but
Chief Stillman rose to the top of every aspect of the hiring process,” Mayor Martin Horwitz said.

During his tenure in Rocky River, Stillman implemented leadership training for all department officers, planned and evaluated the transition to 12-hour shifts, created the first Citizen's Police Academy, established bike patrol units, motorcycle patrol, neighborhood crime prevention, K-9 units and Coffee with a Cop.

“Law enforcement has seen some drastic changes over the past decades, but I am a firm believer
that police must be engaged and stay engaged with the citizens we serve,” Stillman said. “I
truly love my chosen profession and look forward to serving the people of Beachwood and its
residents, employees, and visitors.”

Stillman will be sworn in during Monday's Beachwood City Council meeting. His first day as Beachwood Police Chief will be Sept. 28.
