Scam Alert: Con Artist Targets Beachwood Homes
A con artist is telling residents he needs to check their water due to COVID-19 concerns. Police say it's a scam.
BEACHWOOD, OH — A con artist is using COVID-19 concerns to try and scam his way into Beachwood homes, police warned.
According to police, the con artist tells residents he needs to check their water due to COVID-19 concerns. Beachwood police said residents should not, under any circumstances, let this person into their home.
Beachwood police said the con artist struck in Beachwood on Saturday. Similar incidents were also reported in Highland Heights.

In the Highland Heights incidents, the suspect was driving a black Dodge Journey with a fake Texas temporary tag, reading 96227U7. There was a "Fighting Irish" bumper sticker on the SUV. In another incident, the suspect was reportedly driving a black Ford pickup truck.
Police asked any residents who come into contact with the suspect to "immediately call the police department. Try to provide a good description of the person and any vehicle information, if any are seen."
