Shoplifter Busted With $4,500 Of Merchandise In Beachwood

The suspect was trying to steal more than $4,500 of merchandise from Victoria's Secret at Beachwood Place Mall, police said.

BEACHWOOD, OH — A woman was caught trying to steal more than $4,500 of merchandise from the Victoria's Secret store at Beachwood Place Mall on Tuesday. The woman also lied to police about her identity and is being charged with falsification.

She is being charged with grand theft shoplifting, possessing criminal tools, falsification, and trespassing. The woman is also being held on an active warrant for her arrest issued by Cleveland Police.

Theft from Building, October 22 — Someone stole a $500 cell phone from a guest at the Embassy Suites on Monday.

Suspicion, October 22 — A possible scam email tried to hook a Beachwood resident earlier this week. The email claimed the woman had purchased a $3,800 laptop through Microsoft. The woman had never made such a purchase. She checked her accounts and had suffered no actual financial loss, so the email was deemed a possible scam, police said.

Theft, October 22 — About $520 was stolen from a woman's misplaced wallet. She lost the wallet at Home 2 Suites on Park East.

Theft by Deception, October 23 — Loss prevention officers at Steinmart reported that a woman returned an item she never purchased, and received store credit for the item. The woman will be identified and charges will be filed, police said.

Forgery, October 25 — A man was arrested for forgery while he was at People's Bank on Chagrin Boulevard.

Possession of Marijuana, October 25 — Police arrested a man for having marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia, and an open container of alcohol at Beachwood Place Mall. In a related incident, a woman was also cited for possession of marijuana.

Theft from Motor Vehicle, October 25 — Two vehicles parked in a residential driveway on Letchworth Road were broken into overnight.
