Shoplifter Runs From Police At Beachwood Place Mall: Blotter

Plus, a dog owner is cited for letting two pups run loose, a pair of city trees get damaged, and a bevy of drivers get arrested.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Two shoplifters were caught at Beachwood Place Mall this week. When confronted by officers, one of the suspects tried to escape by taking off running. He didn't make it far, and is being charged with obstructing official business.

Police had a busy week in Beachwood. Here are the notable police incidents from the past week.

License Suspension, Jan. 15 — Police stopped a car on Chagrin Boulevard, near the Pavilion Mall, at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. The car had expired license plates and the driver had a suspended license, and was arrested .

Animal at Large, Jan. 15 — Two dogs were running loose on Letchworth and Bryden roads on Tuesday morning. The owner of the dogs was located and cited.

Damage Property, Jan. 15 — A pair of trees owned by the city of Beachwood were hit by a vehicle on Tuesday.

License Suspension, Jan. 16 — Just after midnight, police stopped a car on Green Road for driving with expired license plates. The driver had a suspended license and was arrested.

Warrant Served, Jan. 16 — Police stopped a car on Twickenham Drive and arrested a passenger in the vehicle on an active warrant.

Possession of Marijuana, Jan. 16 — Outside the Dillard's at Beachwood Place Mall, officers stopped a car. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and was cited, police said.

Shoplifting, Jan. 17 — Two men were arrested for shoplifting from Dillard's on Thursday. One of the men is also being charged with obstructing official business because he ran from police, according to police reports.
