Stolen Handgun Found In Drunk Driver's Car: Beachwood Police

Also in this blotter: a driver using a dead person's handicapped placard is caught by police.

BEACHWOOD, OH — A drunk driver was stopped on Harvard Road on early Sunday morning. Police found a stolen and loaded handgun, fake licenses, and an open container of alcohol in the man's car.

The driver was arrested, but refused to take a breath test. He also repeatedly lied about his identity to police. He now faces several felony charges, police said.

Body Found, Dec. 7 — On Friday morning, police found a man dead in his apartment on Ken Court. The man appeared to have passed away from natural causes, police said.

Improper License Plate, Dec. 7 — Officers stopped a car on Richmond Road because it was displaying a temporary license plate that had been altered. The driver was cited and the car was towed.

OVI, Dec. 8 — A little after midnight on Saturday morning, police spotted a car that was drifting out of its marked lane. The driver appeared to have problems turning at an intersection and the vehicle was stopped. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested.

Possession of Marijuana, Dec. 8 — Three men were cited for having marijuana while shopping at Beachwood Place Mall.

Parking Violation, Dec. 8 — While parking violations aren't usually notable, on Saturday evening police found a car using a dead person's handicapped placard to park in a handicapped reserved space at Beachwood Place Mall. The driver was cited for illegally using the placard.

Red Light Violation, Dec. 9 — After ignoring a red light at 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, a woman was pulled over on Richmond Road. The woman had a suspended license and was arrested by police.
