BEACHWOOD, OH — The vacancy on the Beachwood Board of Education has been filled. The district announced that Jamie Elwell, a six year resident of the city and a mother with two children in the schools, will take the open seat.
Elwell has a background in leadership development and works at Progressive Insurance as a consultant. She has volunteered at Hilltop and the middle school teaching STEM education programs. She has also served as a room parent and participated in Hilltop's Parent Diversity Committee. In a message shared through the Beachwood Schools Facebook, Elwell was described as "excited" to work with the board.
"As board members, we wish to thank the other Beachwood community members who applied for this position. Through the application and interview process, their dedication and commitment to our students and our community were made evident. It is gratifying to know that there are so many citizens who have positive feelings about our school system, its students, families, faculty and staff," the Board of Education said in its message to the community.
