Baseball Smashes SWAT Van Windshield

The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Officers responded to the police station for a report that the SWAT van had its windshield shattered at around 10:30 p.m. June 10.

“The damage was consistent with impact from an object (presumably a baseball or softball) at the bottom of the windshield,” according to the report. 

The van was last used for training on May 29, and had been parked at the southeast corner of the police department parking lot.

No other damage was found on the van.

The ball wasn’t discovered at the scene.

Drug abuse

A 45-year-old Cleveland man was arrested and charged with possession of drug abuse instruments after he was stopped at Brecksville Road and Timber Trail at around 1 p.m. June 4, when officers found syringes and a “small vile containing a clear liquid.”

Warrant

A 29-year-old Cleveland man was taken into custody after officers learned he had a warrant out for his arrest, following a traffic stop on Interstate 77 at around 4:15 p.m. June 16. He was also charged with driving under suspension.
