Brecksville Race Results Show 4 Council Seats, Zone Changes, More

Residents in Brecksille, Ohio decided on council and board of education members, zoning changes, state issues and more.

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio -- The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections posted results of last night’s 2017 General Election on its Web site. Brecksville’s races for city council and board of education as well as zoning and state issue results are posted as well.

According to the Board of Elections site, Brecksville’s Council at Large race resulted in the following four city council seats:

  • Louis N. Carouse, Jr. had 2,428 votes, or 20.5 percent.
  • Michael Thomas Harwood had 2,363 votes, or 20 percent.
  • Jack Petsche had 1,922 votes, or 16.2 percent.
  • Dennis R. Rose had 1,922 votes, 16.2 percent.

The Brecksville/Broadview Heights Board of Education Contest resulted in two wins:

  • Ellen M. Kramer, 4,017 votes or 42.1 percent.
  • Fred Pedersen, 3,006 votes or 31.5 percent

Municipal Zone Changes
Brecksville Residents voted for three zone changes designed to support local business, medical marijuana and community facilities.

State Issues 1 and 2
Ohio voters supported State Issue 1's Rights for Crime Victims. Cuyahoga County residents followed suit by voting for the State Issue 1 with 209,660 votes or 82.6 percent.

State Issue 2, Prescription Drugs, failed, however. Cuyahoga County and Brecksville residents voted against State Issue 2, Prescription Drugs, however, with 176,443 votes.
