Five Things to Know About Rush for a Cause Event
The annual event is slated to take place from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.

The annual Rush for a Cause event is kind of a big deal. Here are some of the details you should know about.Â
- Jim Tressel, legendary football coach and current athletic director at the University of Akron, will kick off the events, running from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.
- Since 2009, the non-profit organization has helped about a half-dozen student-athletes injured in high school sports, providing tens of thousands of dollars in assistance.
- 108 youth football teams, 70 volleyball teams, 14 soccer teams and six rugby teams in a single day of scrimmages.
- There will be more than 3,000 youth athletes, and an estimated 12,000 in attendance for the annual event.
- Teams from Rochester, NY; Pittsburgh, PA; Erie, PA;Â Akron, North Canton and numerous Northeast Ohio suburbs.
