The Great American Smokeout!

On Thursday, November 19, 2020 you can join thousands of individuals across the U.S. and partake in the Great American Smokeout and begin your smoke-free journey. The Great American Smokeout is an annual event that takes place on the third Thursday of every November, and is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The Great American Smokeout provides the opportunity for individuals that use tobacco to set a quit date and take the steps to experience a healthier tomorrow and reduce their risk of chronic diseases, such as cancer.

For adults that are ready to make a change to quit smoking, free help is available.

The Ohio Tobacco Quit Line is a free and confidential telephone service that provides coaching and support to all Ohioans at least 18 years or older that want to quit tobacco. Enrolled participants can receive up to eight weeks of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), if desired. Telephone counseling, web-based chat, and text-messaging are available for enrollees. The Ohio Tobacco Quit Line also provides a protocol specific to pregnant women that want to quit tobacco.
