According to Steve Cocchiola, Orchestra Director, “This joint event was a huge success last year, and our boosters, educators and students from all three groups are planning and executing together again to raise funds. Our hope is that the whole community will come out for breakfast, and enjoy all the festivities to support local music programs.”
Funds raised at the Pancake Breakfast will go toward music technology for all students.
March is designated as Music in our Schools Month (MIOSM) sponsored by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). MIOSM highlights the importance of quality music education programs in our nation’s schools. This raised awareness involves educators, students, administrators, parents and community members to find ways to celebrate creative music activities and advocacy.
In conjunction with Saturday morning’s event, the Band Boosters group will host an Easter Seals “Fill the Truck” Donation Collection. The truck in the BBH Middle School will take clothing, blankets, sheets, shoes, purses. Truck hours are: Friday, March 11 5pm-9pm and Saturday March 12, 8am-4pm. No furniture or appliances. All donated items – in any condition, even torn or stained – will be reused, resold or recycled. The group earns compensation based on number of pounds/bags collected. Easter Seals will provide tax receipts at drop-off.
