Avon Chamber Of Commerce Expands Membership, Updates Name

Beginning December 1st, the Avon Chamber of Commerce is welcoming former members of the Canton chamber to join the new Avon/Canton Chamber of Commerce. New and existing members of both groups will reap an immediate benefit through a greater selection of networking opportunities, expanded business-focused education programs, increased access to varied marketing platforms, and a larger business base through which to interact.

“As businesses continue to face unprecedented challenges due to the adverse economic impacts of Covid-19, the time was right to create a new opportunity to better serve the needs of area businesses,” said Lisa Bohman, current Executive Director of the Avon Chamber. “The genesis of this move is to ensure continued growth for our member businesses and promote the economic vitality of the Farmington Valley.”

Former Canton Chamber President Lou Daniels said, “Through careful examination a growing concern developed that the Canton Chamber’s ability to meet the needs of our members long term was going to be increasingly difficult. After study and discussion it became an easy decision that moving forward with Avon would have the beneficial impact and value that our membership deserved. We are excited about the possibilities and resources that will now be available to our members.”

“For many businesses being part of a chamber of commerce is an essential component of their marketing strategy. This new endeavor will provide tremendous value for a relatively small investment to those who choose to take advantage of this opportunity,” said current Avon Chamber President Michael Mezheritskiy of Milestone Asset Management Group.

The new Avon/Canton Chamber of Commerce will result in an organization of nearly 400 members, headed by a combined 13-member Board of Directors, and helmed by the current Avon Chamber Executive Director Lisa Bohman.
