XED Beverage Company Partners with Ohio-Based T1Diabetes Journey

XED to Co-Sponsor the Cincinnati Nonprofit's Virtual Discussion on April 26 in Recognition of Ohio's First Annual Diabetic Ketoacidosis Day

Upon the Launch of its Hugely Successful Debut Product, SESH: Cocktail Meets Seltzer, XED Beverage Company Will Support T1Diabetes Journey's Efforts in Research, Education and Community Aid

New York City’s XED Beverage Company, the new industry-disrupting beverage brand, has announced its partnership with Cincinnati-based T1Diabetes Journey (T1DJ) to support the organization’s mission to raise diabetes awareness and support diabetics through their often treacherously expensive daily maintenance regimen.

T1Diabetes Journey (T1DJ) was founded by Antoinette Worsham CRCR, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. After losing her 22-year-old daughter to ketoacidosis stemming from Type 1 diabetes, Worsham felt inspired to create what would become a nonprofit 501c3 organization to educate, advocate for and support those in the Type 1 diabetes community.

“I felt deeply moved to create T1Diabetes Journey as an indispensable resource for the community, because there is such a profound lack of education and support available to diabetics and their families” says Antoinette Worsham, the organization’s founder and executive director. “Type 1 diabetes is a chronic and lifelong condition that can be prohibitively expensive to manage; from the start, my goal has been to help others deal with their condition on a daily basis, regardless of their circumstances. I am very grateful to partner with XED Beverage Company; our shared vision is to create awareness, offer support where it’s most needed and foster meaningful relationships in the community.”

XED Beverage Company was founded by entrepreneurs Zeke Bronfman, who carries on the family legacy of spirits titans Samuel Bronfman and Edgar Bronfman Sr. of Seagrams fame, and his best friend and former college roommate, Nate Medow, who has been living with Type 1 diabetes since childhood. Medow had always been acutely mindful of his sugar, calorie and carb intake. Bronfman, with a time-honored palate for refined beverages, and Medow realized that no drinks on the market satisfied both of their needs: better for you AND better tasting.

With zero sugar, gluten or preservatives, just 120 calories and a single gram of carbs per can, SESH: Cocktail Meets Seltzer, the first product in XED Beverage Company’s roster, entered the market this past February with the rich, full-bodied taste of a cocktail with 6% ABV and the better-for-you qualities of SESH’s spiked seltzer. SESH comes in a quartet of supremely satisfying flavors: Gin & Tonic, Mojito, Moscow Mule and Paloma.

Says Nate Medow, co-founder and president of XED Beverage Company, “having experienced the multitude of struggles that come with all T1D diagnoses, I am especially honored to partner with Antoinette Worsham’s extraordinary organization and support its crucial efforts in providing resources and expensive maintenance supplies, such as meters, strips and clean needles, to the community.” As Medow continues, “the meticulous formulation of SESH was not only to provide a truly authentic cocktail-meets-seltzer for consumers, but to satisfy anyone who needs to spend extra time looking at ingredients and monitoring their beverage intake. XED Beverages is proud to pay it forward to all the ‘Nates’ out there through our partnership with T1DJ and help ensure that Type 1 diabetics can enjoy life to its fullest potential.”
Says co-founder and CEO of XED Beverage Company, Zeke Bronfman, “all along, we’ve been driven to encourage more responsible drinking practices by offering full-flavored products that are zero-sugar, low carb and low-cal, while also promoting overall wellness in a practical manner. One of the primary reasons we created SESH was so that diabetics, celiacs, athletes and anyone in search of a more transparent drinking experience can sip on an adult beverage that spirits connoisseurs can recommend, without anyone having to make compromises or feel excluded.”

April 26th is now officially recognized as Diabetic Ketoacidosis Day in the state of Ohio, as signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine, after persistent efforts from Rep. Beth Liston MD, PhD, MPH, various state and local political officials—and, of course, the tireless Ms. Worsham. On April 26th, 2021 at 6:00pm EST—a day that honors the 2017 passing of Antavia Lee-Worsham from diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)—SESH will serve as a co-sponsor of an important virtual discussion of DKA, hosted by T1Diabetes Journey, for which Rep. Liston will serve as the keynote speaker and moderator.
