Cuyahoga County Leads State In Foreclosure Filings: Report
Compared to the previous year, foreclosure filings are up in Cuyahoga County.

CLEVELAND, OH — Ohio is one of 12 states that saw an increase in foreclosures over the past year, according to new data. The Buckeye State had the fifth most foreclosure filings in the U.S.
Foreclosure activity in Cuyahoga County for Jan. 2018 saw a 77 percent year-over-year increase from January 2017 and a 109 percent increase from Dec. 2017, according to ATTOM data.
According to ATTOM, there were 1,016 foreclosure filings in Cuyahoga in January 2018. Based on census bureau estimates, there are 618,673 housing units in Cuyahoga so one in every 609 properties in Cuyahoga County has a foreclosure filing.

Cuyahoga County had the highest foreclosure rate in the state, according to the ATTOM data.
While foreclosure activity had an overall year-over-year decrease in the U.S. for Jan. 2018, Ohio was one of the states that countered the national trend and had an increase instead.

According to ATTOM, Ohio had the fifth highest foreclosure rate in the nation. In January 2018, there were 4,228 foreclosure filings in the state or one in every 1,217 properties had a foreclosure filing.
The states with the most foreclosure activity in January were New Jersey (up 8 percent); Ohio (up 6 percent); Indiana (up 20 percent); Arizona (up 1 percent) and DC (up 49 percent).
