Columbus Election Results: City Council, City Attorney

Zach Klein takes the City Attorney post in Columbus. Find out which City Council candidates earned seats for the next two years.

COLUMBUS, OH — Mitchell J. Brown, Shannon G. Hardin and Priscilla R. Tyson all won re-election on Tuesday, keeping their seats on the Columbus City Council. All three are Democrats, which means that the composition of the seven-member council will remain strictly Democratic for at least two more years.

Brown, Hardin, and Tyson were endorsed by the Franklin County Democratic Party. Jasmine Ayres and Will Petrik, were endorsed by Yes We Can Columbus, and Kieran Cartharn, was endorsed by the Franklin County Republican Party, according to Ballotpedia.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the council will tackle several issues next year, including whether seats should be added to the council, and raising the city’s debt limit.

In Columbus, it was Klein against Kline for the City Attorney position. Attorney Don Kline was tapped to run for the seat being vacated by Rick Pfeifer. Columbus City Council president Zach Klein is also seeking the post.
