Indiana Tops Ohio In Little League Baseball Regionals

The boys from New Albany, Indiana, defeated their opponents from New Albany, Ohio, on Monday 8-5.

WESTFIELD, IN — The boys from New Albany, Indiana, outlasted their opponents from New Albany, Ohio, on Monday, winning by a score of 8-5. Ohio managed to score three runs in the third inning, but lost the lead when Indiana answered with five five runs of its own in the bottom of the inning.

Ohio outpaced Indiana with nine hits, including a home run from Charlie Oakleaf, who finished the day with two hits and two RBI. But Indiana made efficient use of its six hits, capitalizing on Ohio's mistakes, including walks, wild pitches and errors.

Luke Krwr got the win for Indiana, tossing two and a third innings and allowing just one run on two hits.

This is Indiana's second win in as many days in the Great Lakes Region tournament. The team defeated the St. Matthews Baseball Little League team, of Kentucky, Sunday night in Westfield following a dominant pitching performance from Chase Loesh, Jack Beyl and Cody Jackson. The Kentucky team, limited to just three hits, lost 6-1.

Indiana will advance to Wednesday's winners bracket final against the Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League team out of Michigan, which routed Wisconsin earlier in the day. That game, slated to start at 2 p.m. Eastern Time, can also be streamed on ESPN+. The Great Lakes champion will go on to play the Northwest champion Aug. 17.

Ohio will play the Tri Cities Little League team out of Illinois on Tuesday. That game is slated to begin at 10 a.m. Eastern Time and can be streamed here.

New Albany, Indiana, is about 115 miles south of Indianapolis. New Albany, Ohio, is about 13 miles northeast of Columbus, Ohio.
