Little League Regionals: Ohio Pitching Silences Illinois Bats

WESTFIELD, IN — Ohio's Little League team piled on the hits and silenced Illinois' bats Tuesday to earn a hard-fought 4-0 win. The Great Lakes regional tournament featured a matchup between Ohio's New Albany Little League team and Illinois' Tri Cities Little League team, out of West Dundee. Pitchers Ben Clark, Aidan Booth and Charlie Oakleaf were able to limit Illinois to just two hits — and no walks — in the game. They also struck out seven batters combined.

Meanwhile, Illinois pitcher Paulie Rudolph labored through five tough innings, allowing 11 hits and four runs, though only two of those were earned. He also tacked on four strikeouts.

Booth, who tossed three innings of one-hit ball, helped his own cause in the game, adding a double and scoring a run. Zach Casey collected two hits and two RBIs in the game as well.

Ohio came into the game energized after a tough loss Monday against Indiana, falling 8-5. Illinois fell to Michigan on Sunday 7-2.

Ohio now goes on to play in the semi-final Thursday afternoon.

New Albany is about 13 miles northeast of Columbus and West Dundee is about 37 miles northwest of Chicago.

Elsewhere in the region, Wisconsin will take on Kentucky on Tuesday night. That game begins at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Michigan will play Indiana on Wednesday afternoon.
