Ohio Connections Academy Recognizes Columbus Student
Star Student Award recognizes students for achievement in and out of the virtual classroom

Caleb McClain of Columbus, was recently named one of Ohio Connections Academy’s (OCA) Star Students of the Month for December in recognition of his academic achievements and leadership.
Caleb, a junior at the statewide online public charter school, was nominated by his teacher Ms. Laramee-Dannery in recognition of his hard work and determination to succeed. As a Star Student, Caleb will be presented a certificate recognizing his achievement and be profiled in Ohio Connections Academy’s student newsletter and on the school’s website.
Caleb started attending Ohio Connections Academy in 2014 to be a safe learning environment with accessible teachers. According to Caleb, he likes how the virtual classroom enables him to work at his own pace. At the same time, he knows he has to be responsible and complete his work every day.

Each month during the school year OCA will recognize students in grades K through 12 who are excelling in the virtual classroom. The following students were also recognized as Star Students of the Month for December:
- Brigid Mullaly, 2nd Grade, Wickliffe
- Elisabeth Krubl, 3rd Grade, Athens
- Tucker Carll, 4td Grade, Dayton
- Sofia Davis, 5th Grade, Chesapeake
- Riley Graham, 8th Grade, Hinkley
“The faculty, staff and members of the board at Ohio Connections Academy are proud to recognize students like Caleb and the commitment they demonstrate to our school and their community,” said OCA Superintendent Marie Hanna. “Each of our Star Students is a leader in the classroom and demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to learning – they truly deserve this recognition.”
