Ohio Connections Academy students travel to Six Ohio Zoos
Field trips offer online students opportunity to connect and socialize with their peers
Ohio Connections Academy students, parents and guests from all over Ohio attended the statewide online public charter school’s May 22nd family engagement activity that took place at six zoos across the state.
As many as 1,600 students explored either the Akron Zoo, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium, the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden or The Wilds in Muskingum County to take part in an educational experience that also gave students the opportunity engage and socialize with their peers. The trip was one of the regularly held activities the virtual school organizes throughout the year.
Previously Ohio Connections Academy has hosted gatherings at other Ohio attractions such as the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, COSI in Columbus and the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Each year the school also invites students to a “statewide picnic” where they gather at various state and local metro parks for lunch, games and other educational experiences.
