Ohio Coronavirus Cases Trending Downward; 7 New Deaths

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio has seen 365 new COVID-19 cases, and 7 new virus-related deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the Ohio Department of Health on Sunday.

The state has seen 38,476 total cases, along with 2,377 virus-related deaths and 6,497 cumulative hospitalizations, according to state data.

Earlier this week, state officials including Gov. Mike DeWine announced that casinos, racetracks, amusement parks and water parks were allowed to open back up with restrictions starting on June 19.

"In all of these cases, these sectors have come up with plans that reduce the number of people, provide for sanitation, and in some cases, provide for one-way traffic," DeWine said in a statement. "They are elaborate plans that we believe are consistent with protecting the public."

Trending Downward

According to data from Ohio health officials, the 365 total cases reported Sunday is below the average number of reported cases from the last 21 days, which stands at 503.

Likewise, Sunday's seven COVID-19-related deaths was below the 21-day average of 36.

State figures show that hospitalizations Sunday were also below 21-day averages. According to state data, the 21-day reported hospitalization average is 75 new patients per 24 hours. Sunday's figure came in at 37 new hospitalizations.
