Southwest Airlines Summer Sale: Here Are Flights Out Of Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH — Southwest Airlines has announced a nationwide summer sale and those looking to escape Columbus can do so for as little as $49. The sale, which began Tuesday and ends Friday, applies to travel between June 5 and Oct. 31.

The least expensive fares are available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and only on nonstop flights. The fares can be combined with other fares on other days.

The sale comes just weeks after a mid-air engine explosion sent plane debris into the fuselage and broke a window. The plane quickly lost pressure and one passenger was partially sucked out of the plane. She died from her injuries.

Southwest said it has seen lower ticket sales since the death.

“We noted on our recent earnings call that we saw an impact to our bookings following Flight #1380,” company spokeswoman Thais Hanson said in a statement to USA TODAY. “As we go back into the market with full marketing efforts for the first time since Flight #1380 we’re giving our direct distribution model a boost in order to stimulate bookings to our website.”
