Teen Shot, Killed By SWAT In Columbus: Police
Police say the 16-year-old pointed a gun at and robbed an undercover officer.

COLUMBUS, OH — Columbus Police SWAT officers fatally shot a 16-year-old during a robbery investigation Thursday night, police said.
Julius Ervin Tate, Jr., 16, was shot by a SWAT officer who was providing cover for an undercover police officer during a robbery investigation, police said. Officers were near N. Champion Avenue and Mt. Vernon Avenue investigating the reports of robberies of people using social media sites to buy and sell items.
An undercover officer met up with Tate to purchase something, police said. Tate is accused of pointing a gun at the officer and robbing him. At this point, a cover SWAT officer fired his gun, hitting and killing Tate, police said.

Tate was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. No officers were injured, police said.
