Thieves Break In To Deputy's Car, Steal Backpack With Gun: Police
The deputy's car was broken in to sometime between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on May 2 near Berliner Park. Can you ID the suspects?
COLUMBUS, OH — Columbus police are asking for help identifying a man and a woman who broke into a Franklin County sheriff's deputy's vehicle last week and made off with a book bag containing a handgun. The Columbus Division of Police tweeted Monday afternoon that the deputy's car was broken into sometime between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on May 2 near Lou Berliner Sports Park in Southwest Columbus.
WTTE reported the deputy had been playing basketball at the time.
The thieves stole a backpack, which contained the deputy's service weapon, a gun belt, a knife and a wallet.

A credit card that was also in the bag was used at the N&N Market store located on Sullivant Avenue and Clarendon Avenue, police said. It was also used at a Speedway gas station on Brown Road.
