Watch Live: Trump Rally In Ohio Ahead Of High Stakes Election
President Trump will appear at a rally in Lewis Center, Ohio to support Troy Balderson ahead of the special election Aug. 7.

LEWIS CENTER, OH — President Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in Ohio Saturday to support Troy Balderson, the Republican state senator who is running for Congress in a high stakes election that could see a solid Republican seat flip Democrat. Balderson is running against Democrat Danny O'Connor in the special election Aug. 7 for the state's 12th Congressional district. (You can watch a live stream of the rally below)
Polls show that the race is tight with a recent Monmouth poll giving Balderson just a one point advantage over his opponent and the poll said the race has shifted from a Republican advantage to a toss-up now. The district was represented by Ohio Gov. John Kasich before the current incumbent, Pat Tiberi, resigned in January. Tiberi resigned to lead the Ohio Business Roundtable.
"The underlying GOP-lean of this district benefits State Senator Troy Balderson," Monmouth's poll said. "But an increase in Democratic enthusiasm and a shift in independent voter preferences have boosted the standing of Franklin County Recorder Danny O’Connor."

Trump tweeted Saturday in support of Balderson, saying he is strong on crime and the border and loves the military, veterans and the second amendment. Trump said Balderson's opponent, O'Connor, is a puppet of House minority leader Nancy Pelosi and supports high taxes.
Will be going to Ohio tonight to campaign for Troy Balderson for the big Congressional Special Election on Tuesday. Early voting is on. Troy is strong on Crime, the Border & loves our Military, Vets & 2nd Amendment. His opponent is a puppet of Nancy Pelosi/high taxes.

Troy Balderson, running for Congress from Ohio, is in a big Election fight with a candidate who just got caught lying about his relationship with Nancy Pelosi, who is weak on Crime, Borders & your 2nd Amendment-and wants to raise your Taxes (by a lot). Vote for Troy on Tuesday!

Trump's visit to Ohio comes a day after he took aim at basketball star and Ohio native LeBron James, insulting his intelligence. Trump's remarks came after he apparently watched an interview on CNN where James was interviewed by CNN anchor Don Lemon from his new school in Akron for at-risk children.

"Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon," wrote Trump, who regularly derides CNN as fake news. "He made Lebron look smart, which isn't easy to do. I like Mike!"
Both Kasich and O'Connor have responded to Trump's attack on James.
Kasich said that rather than criticizing James, he should be celebrated for his charity work and effort to help kids. O'Connor tweeted that he's focused on talking to Ohio voters at the moment but he doesn't have to tell anyone what James means to Ohio.
I'm focused on talking to Ohio voters right now. We’ve got an election to win in just three days. But I don't have to tell *anyone* what LeBron James means to Ohio.
