Rare Twins Born Holding Hands in Ohio

AKRON, Ohio – Rare twins who shared the same amniotic sac and placenta were born holding hands over the weekend.

Jillian and Jenna Thistlethwaite were removed from respirators Sunday afternoon, allowing their mother a chance to hold them for the first time on Mother's Day, the Associated Press reported. 

"It's just hard to put into words how amazing it feels to know the girls are OK. It's great to know that they're doing so well, and being able to hold them," Sarah Thistletwaite told the AP.

A "mono mono" pregnancy occurs once in every 10,000 pregnancies, according to doctors.

Live on 5 Akron, the local ABC affiliate was in the delivery room when the twins were born and captured an image of the twins holding hands after being delivered. The full video report is attached to this post.
