Counterfeit Bills Turn Up at 2 Businesses: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Fairlawn Police Department

Two Fairlawn businesses reported counterfeit money in their stores last week.

On Oct. 2, an Walgreens employee said a woman bought a candy bar and candle with a $20 bill that was later determined to be fake.

Three days later, two men went into Kopper Popper and paid for a medium popcorn with a phony $50.

Police took both bills for the investigations.

A shoplifter was nabbed at Giant Eagle Oct. 3 after h was seen concealing two steaks — and a bottle of A1 steak sauce — down the front of his pants.

Tire Theft

A loss prevention officer at NTB told police Oct. 1 that someone had taken 12 tires valued at $1,479 from the stockroom over the last three weeks.
