The Lippman School Cultural Immersion Camp Intro + Open House

Learn how your children can participate in the Lippman School Cultural Immersion camp in Akron this summer: Thursday, May 19, 5:00-6:00 PM.

Parents interested in learning how their children can participate in The Lippman School’s new Cultural Immersion Camp this summer, are invited a Camp Intro & Open House on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 5:00-6:00 PM followed the school’s annual Student Showcase, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at The Lippman School in West Akron.

This August, The Lippman School Cultural Immersion Camp will provide a unique opportunity for up to 23 International students from China, and 23 American students, ages 10-12, to explore academic themes related to American history, culture, arts, and the environment, during two camp sessions. It will be a day camp for American students who live in the Akron area and an overnight camp for international students.

The Lippman School Cultural Immersion Camp will be an exciting, hands-on learning experience, with instruction from teachers from The Lippman School in Akron, OH, and from Chief Dull Knife College, on the Northern Cheyenne reservation in Montana.

Each morning campers will enjoy interactive classes in two themes; American History, and Northern Cheyenne/Plains Indians Culture.

Afternoons and evenings will include a variety of recreational opportunities, including swimming, hiking and biking in the National Park, attending a baseball game, and visiting local historical sites. They’ll also enjoy bonfires, cookouts, and more.

Lippman’s Head of School, Sam Chestnut, says students who have the opportunity to live, learn, and interact with peers from other countries and cultures, will be well-prepared for a future in today’s globally interconnected world. For Chinese students, Chestnut says, the Cultural Immersion Camp will be a “great opportunity to learn and practice English in a fun, relaxing, and thoroughly unique way”.

American students, he says, will have the opportunity to learn about the culture, customs, and people from a country playing an increasingly important role in American business, political, and economic affairs, while both American and Chinese students will gain valuable new insights into American history and culture, have a great time, and make new friends.
