$240,000 Earmarked For Kent NEOMED Library

From Ohio State Rep. Kathleen Clyde: State Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) today announced $23,954 in state funding to the Northeast Ohio College of Medicine (NEOMED) to begin renovating the Northeast Regional Library Depository located at the college’s Rootstown campus.

“As the cost of college continues to rise, it’s important to strengthen programs that connect students and faculty to the resources they need at a lower cost,” said Rep. Clyde. “Sharing resources is also a responsible use of taxpayer dollars, and OhioLINK provides consistently high-quality services to tens of thousands of Ohioans across our state.”

The Northeast Regional Library Depository at NEOMED functions as a co-op that provides the University of Akron, Cleveland State University, Kent State University, NEOMED and Youngstown State University with a combined catalog for sharing library collections.

NEOMED will use funds to pay architectural and engineering planning costs to begin the process of renovating and improving the energy efficiency of the 27-year-old building.

Rep. Clyde represents Ohio’s 75th House District, which includes Kent and central and southern Portage County. She is also a member of the House Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee.
