City Posts Video Pushing Tax Hike for Police Station

Proposed 0.25 percent income tax hike headed to November ballot

Kent Police Chief Michelle Lee and Kent City Manager Dave Ruller are making the case for a tax hike to build a new police station via a new video released by the city.

The video, originally posted Wednesday on the Kent Police Department Facebook page, features the chief and city manager talking about the proposed 0.25 percent income tax hike set for the November ballot.

The tax hike, if approved, would raise about $1.3 million annually to build a new police station in the block bordered by Summit, South DePeyster, South Water streets and Haymaker Parkway.
