Dan Rather Coming To Kent To Discuss May 4 Shooting
The legendary reporter will discuss covering worldwide events like the Kennedy assassination, Watergate and the Kent National Guard shooting

KENT, OH — Legendary TV reporter Dan Rather will visit Kent State University to discuss covering globally impactful events like Watergate, the Kennedy assassination and the May 4 National Guard shooting at Kent. His visit will coincide with the school's May 4 commemoration series.
“Dan Rather has been a witness to events that profoundly affected our country, our campus and the world,” said Kent State University President Beverly Warren in a statement. “His unique perspective on the tragic events of May 4, 1970 is of great interest to the university community. His visit directly supports our distinctive mission to prepare students to become engaged world citizens through interactions that spark a passion and purpose to better our society.”
Rather will speak on May 4 at Kent. His appearance is part of the Presidential Speaker Series and will coincide with the dedication of the May 4 site as a National Landmark. The location, time and ticket info will be released at a later date, the university said.

Rather was the longtime host of CBS Evening News. He worked for CBS for 44 years, 24 as host of the Evening News. In 2012, he was awarded the Edward R. Murrow award for his storied and decorated broadcast career. He is currently the CEO and president of News and Guts.
