2020 Lakewood Arts Festival Cancelled Due To COVID-19
The popular arts festival will not be held this year. The 2021 festival will be held Aug. 7 in Lakewood.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The 2020 Lakewood Arts Festival has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
"The Trustees of the Lakewood Arts Festival Board did not make this decision lightly, but out of thoughtful care and concern. An event as large as the Lakewood Arts Festival would present a safety risk to the artists, volunteers, patrons and attendees that are the fabric of the show," the organizers said in a statement on the event website.
The festival was originally scheduled to begin August 1. Given current health and safety guidelines, organizers said, the decision was made to cancel this year's festival.

To support the artists who were displaying work at this year's festival, the Lakewood Arts Fest will share highlights from the 2020 exhibiting artist roster on social media and on the event website. Organizers encouraged everyone to support the participating artists.
"The Festival Board is grateful to the artists, musicians, community groups, vendors and volunteers that take part in the festival. We are looking forward to the First Saturday in August in 2021, when we can gather to celebrate the beauty of the arts, the joy of creativity and the spirit of community that is signature to the show," the organizers said.

The cancellation of the festival will not halt the group's scholarship support for students. The Lakewood Arts Festival Board has granted a $4,000 scholarship and two $1,000 scholarships this year for students pursuing an education in the arts.
"The Lakewood Arts Festival will welcome you on August 7, 2021 for the 44th Annual Lakewood Arts Festival – and until then, wishing you safety and health throughout the year," organizers said at the end of their statement.
