Beck Center To Begin In-Person Classes In August
The Beck Center for the Arts will offer both online and in-person classes through the fall.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The Beck Center will offer in-person and online arts classes for the fall.
“The education team did a great job creating a meaningful curriculum resulting in 145 weekly classes, of which 64 are online, and 77 will be in-person on our Lakewood campus," said Ed Gallagher, director of education at Beck Center.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began in March, the Beck Center began using Google Classroom and Zoom to offer classes. The campus will reopen to the public on Aug. 31. Online classes will resume on Sept. 9.

"The fall will see Beck Center offering 30 percent fewer courses than is the norm, with in-person and online courses to meet the needs and desires of our families and students. Technology needs have grown, infrastructure is being expanded, and the financial outlay for hardware and software is substantial. In addition, we must be poised to move all classes onto the online platform should our area spike with diagnosis or should the state or region shut down for a prolonged period of time," Gallagher added.
To keep students and faculty safe, face coverings will be required for everyone on campus, except for children 5 and younger. Social distancing marks will be present in classrooms and learning spaces. Hand sanitizer will be available at entrances, in classrooms and in studio spaces. A 15 minute break will be implemented between classes to give time for disinfecting and cleaning.
