Cannabis Retail Store Opens In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, OH — Rise Lakewood, a cannabis retail store, has opened in Lakewood. The company said this is the first of two locations planned for Lakewood.

Rise Lakewood, located on Madison Avenue, is owned and operated by Green Thumb Industries. Green Thumb now has four cannabis retail stores in Ohio, with other locations in Toledo, Cleveland and Lorain.

“We are thrilled to open the first of our two retail locations in Lakewood and to help more Ohioans improve well-being through cannabis, while creating jobs at our stores and manufacturing facility,” said GTI Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ben Kovler.

Green Thumb began its Ohio expansion in early 2019. The company has licenses to open five locations in the Buckeye State, and Kovler said there will be a second Rise Lakewood site on Detroit Avenue.

Green Thumb will produce its own branded cannabis products, including its brands Rythm and incredibles. The company has a production facility in Toledo.

“I look forward to seeing all the good this dispensary will do for the community,” said State Representative Juanita Brent. “Cannabis has proven to be an effective method to help people who are addicted to opioids and it is time to stop criminalizing a plant.”

Rise Lakewood's first location is at 11818 Madison Avenue. The store will be open on Wednesdays, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
