Construction Projects That Could Impact Lakewood Commutes

June will start with construction work on I-90 and on the Jennings Freeway.

LAKEWOOD, OH — With winter over and construction season in full-swing, Patch will be regularly looking at the traffic projects that could impact daily commutes. Heading into the first weekend of June, there are a couple of construction plans to be aware.

Starting June 1 and continuing June 5 through June 8, crews will close the left lane on I-90 east between Detroit and Hilliard roads from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Workers will be performing drainage clearing operations on the highway during that time, the Ohio Department of Transportation said.

Luckily, a different project on I-90 has been completed. Resurfacing work between Canterbury Road and the Rocky River is finished. Some minor operations remain, ODOT said, but there should be minimal impact on traffic.

As previously reported, work continues on State Route 2, which many Lakewood residents use to commute home from downtown Clevleand.

"The right lane on SR 2/Main Avenue Bridge east and westbound between West 28th Street and First Energy Stadium will be closed and remain closed through mid-Junefor bridge maintenance operations. Also, the Summit entrance ramp to SR 2 westbound is closed. Motorists are detoured via the Lakeside Avenue entrance ramp to SR 2 westbound," ODOT said in an email.

Meanwhile, on State Route 176, there will be various lane closures overnight on Friday. Crews will be doing bridge deck resealing near Harvard Road in Cleveland from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Lane closures should not impact traffic leaving downtown events, ODOT said.
