Don't Burn The Christmas Tree, Lakewood Will Collect Them

Make sure you get the ornaments and lights off before the tree is set out on the curb.

LAKEWOOD, OH — From Dec. 26 until about Jan. 12, crews in Lakewood will be making special trips to collect Christmas trees from residents. All a resident has to do is leave the tree at the curb and crews will do the rest.

Trees can be left out at any time, a spokesperson for the city told Patch. The tree may be outside for a few days, but crews will eventually remove the Christmas tree.

Residents will want to make sure they have stripped a tree of any decorations or other keepsakes before tossing it out. The trees will be chipped for mulch, according to the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District website.

After about Jan. 12, residents will want to leave a tree with their regular trash and recycling. The regular trash crews will then collect the trees.
