Every Dog Has Its Day (To Swim) In Lakewood

Join the Friends of the Lakewood Dog Park (FLDP) for the 14th annual Dog Swim.

LAKEWOOD, OH – Ready for wet dog pandemonium? Dogs are taking over Foster Pool on Tuesday, September 4th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm for the 14th annual Dog Swim benefitting the Friends of the Lakewood Dog Park (FLDP). Bring your human and join in the fun as the dogs take over the pool. Every year, Foster Pool opens up the day after Labor Day and right before the pool is drained and winterized to the dogs.

Cost $8 for the first dog and each additional dog is $7. Make check-in easier and faster for you and your dog by completing this required waiver in advance. Here is a direct link to the form: http://www.lakewoodrecreation.com/user/files/dog_swim_waiver_2017.pdf

According to Karen Karp, event coordinator, the dog swim is “our biggest, most successful and most well attended fundraisers.” The volunteers are expecting approximately 175 humans and dogs. “Every year we do have more and more people coming just to observe,” said Karp.

Proceeds will benefit FLDP, the all-volunteer, non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that works with the City of Lakewood to care for the Lakewood Dog Park and raises funds for dog park improvements. The Friends of the Lakewood Dog Park, (originally named FIDO), was founded in January 2002 as a citizen's group helping to bring a dog park to Lakewood in the belief that such a park would enhance the livability of Lakewood as it has for other communities nationwide.
