Exciting News for Lakewood!

Tess Neff for Lakewood City Council Ward 1 Stays Engaged

On Monday, October 28th I left the Lakewood City Council Committee of the Whole meeting feeling incredibly excited and optimistic about the discussions regarding the next steps for the proposed Cove Church project. The project's goals are many and they will provide benefits to the citizens of Lakewood unlike any we have experienced. The proposed design build and adaptive reuse for the Cove Church will sufficiently house all three divisions of the Human Services Department under one roof. Currently, the Divisions of Aging, Early Childhood, and Youth Services are in three different locations within the city. In addition, the church's spacious floor plan will allow the city to extned the hours of operation and expand programming to better serve the community. I'm particularly thrilled that the project will be an intergenerational community center where the elderly, the young, families, and everyone can gather. It is a spectactular opportunity for us to support one another, to intermingle with all generations, to volunteer, and look out for our vulnerable citizens. I look forward to working with the council members and the city administration to ensure the community center comes to fruition. This is an exciting time for Lakewood.
