Final Visit And Walk-Through Of Lakewood Hospital [PHOTOS]
An opportunity to visit Lakewood Hospital to say a final goodbye was organized by city council members Meghan George and John Litten.
LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood Hospital has been closed for some time and the emergency room at the old hospital has been closed since the new Cleveland Clinic Family Health Center opened in July.
Lakewood council members John Litten and Meghan George felt that it would be appropriate to allow those who wanted to a final chance to visit the old hospital and say goodbye.
Four walk throughs were schedules for 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, and 6:30 pm. Due to asbestos remediation work, equipment removal, insurance issues and other safety factors, the tour was limited to the ER and the auditorium, old photos of the hospital and related events were set up in the atrium for visitors to view.

"My hope is that this will provide some level of closure for people as this space transitions," ward 3 councilman John Litten told the first group of about 20 people before they began their visit.
Council member Meghan George echoed Litten's sentiments while adding "this was just a way for us to allow the community and allow those that worked here for many years to have one last time to tour the facility that all of us loved so much and have so many memories of that had such a huge impact on our community."
