Five Reasons to Attend the Lakewood Community Festival

Running for 26 years, the Lakewood Community Festival is the sort of event that’s become a tradition in Lakewood.

Celebrating community, cultural heritage and families, it’s a day of “fun and activities for everyone.” It’s slated to take place at Madison Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. 

Needless to say, there are more reasons than few reasons why the event is such a hit.

But we’ll boil it down to five:

Entertainment: The Lakewood Recreation Department Tap Dancers, Silhouette Dance Studio, The Riley Brothers Band, Edelweiss 5, The Polka Pirates, 2 Guys/12 Strings, John Pastirik, Saint Ignatius Circus Company (Jugglers), Starburst Suri-Alpaca Ranch, Lake Erie Science and Nature Center.

Activities: Craft and game booths, bounce houses, pony rides, children’s games will all be part of the festivities.

Food: Stuffed cabbage, pierogies, potato cakes, cabbage and noodles, kielbasa and sauerkraut, pizza, french fries, funnel cakes and more.  An assortment of traditional ethnic baked goods and other desserts will be available.

It’s the last hurrah of the summer: The festival, sponsored by the Lakewood Community Festival and the city of Lakewood, is traditionally the last event of the summer. This event will be held rain or shine.

For a good cause: Proceeds from the festival are donated to various local organizations.
