Free Movies In The Park Start Friday In Lakewood

The Emoji Movie is going to be screened at the Lakewood Park Bandstand.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Nothing says summer like getting outdoors, laying out on a blanket in the park and watching a free movie. The city's Friday Night Flicks series, which screens free films outdoors, offers residents a chance to do just that.

The city has five, family-friendly movies lined up for the summer. The program will start June 15, when the Emoji Movie screens at the Lakewood Park Bandstand. That film will start at 9 p.m. and should be finished by 11 p.m.

On June 29, Despicable Me 3 will be shown. The Nut Job 2 will be screened July 13, and Peter Rabbit is slated for July 27.

The final movie in the series will not be screened at the Lakewood Park Bandstand. Instead, Paddington 2 will be shown in Madison Park on August 10.

All of the screenings are weather-dependent. If things get stormy, a film showing could be cancelled. The city said it hopes that it would be able to reschedule any cancelled Friday Night Flicks.
